"You shall not stand idly by the blood of your neighbor."
Leviticus 19:16
As Jews, we have more of a responsibility to speak out and take action against genocide. To this end, in 2004 the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Dallas (JCRC) established the Dallas Jewish Coalition to Save Darfur - now the Dallas Coalition to Save Darfur.
The work of the Dallas Coalition to Save Darfur is to educate, focus attention and inspire action to help the people of Darfur.
The Coalition is an alliance of organizations and religious institutions, representing people of all ages, races, and political affiliations united together to help the people of Darfur. Over the past four years, the Coalition has raised awareness of the ongoing genocide in Darfur through educational programs, witness testimonials and a city-wide rally.
The Coalition is chaired by Rabbi David Stern, Senior Rabbi, Temple Emanu-El, and Andrea Weinstein, National Chair, Jewish Council for Public Affairs. It is also aligned with the national Save Darfur Coalition (SaveDarfur.org), based in Washington D.C.
