WHAT I CAN DO TO HELP ISRAEL?

• Pray for the safety of the abducted soldiers — Gilad Shavit, Ehud Goldwasser, and Eldad Regev — and for the citizens of Israel.

• Contribute to the Israel Crisis Fund

The Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, in conjunction with the United Jewish Communities (UJC), has launched the Israel Crisis Fund to help fellow Jews affected by the violence in Northern Israel.

The fund will directly aid those displaced, traumatized and wounded by the continuing rocket attacks. It will also offset costs incurred by Dallas’ partnership hospital in the Western Galilee, the central receiving facility for wounded soldiers and civilians. Additionally, the fund will help move school-age campers away from the imminent danger to safe areas in Central Israel.

Donations will be accepted at the online donation form available on the Federation’s website at www.jewishdallas.org. To make a donation by phone, please contact (214) 615-5259. (Due to immediate need, pledges payable over time are not being accepted.)

• Write to your elected officials (President, U.S. Senators, U.S. House of Representatives) and thank them for their support for Israel.

• Buy Israeli products: www.israzon.com

• Write a letter to the local media in support of Israel and her right to defend herself. It is best to write a letter thanking the local media when they publish a positive editorial or Op-Ed piece in the paper.

• Wear a blue ribbon or tie one around a tree or mailbox in the front of your home to raise awareness about the kidnapped soldiers and to demonstrate solidarity with the people of Israel.

• Pick up the phone and call an Israeli friend, cousin, your first tour guide, and simply tell them that we are in solidarity with them, that they are not alone and that American and world Jewry continue its activities strengthening Israel and connecting us to them. Such phone calls lift both our spirits and theirs.
